Job Title: COE DB – Team MemberDepartment: Core Technologies
Reports to: Manager – COE DB
Location: India
Purpose of Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to
- Ensure optimal performance in production databases by adhering to the best practices in db design and development across all development team.
- Provide mentoring to the development team
- Provide tools and environments for development team to work most effectively.
- Performance monitoring of db application code, identifying and correction of problem code.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in database design discussions and sign-off the final database design.
- Responsible for reviewing the database code to ensure the standard code practices are adhered to.
- To ensure the scalability and optimal performance of database code developed under their supervision. Monitoring of release stress testing to provide the performance testing sign off.
- Work as single point of contact with COE-DB team to provide timely signoffs, QA DB monitoring and to ensure minimum downtime during the release deployment.
- Responsibility of developing and maintaining the databases tool and utilities used across the organization.
- Act as database administrator for the developer, QA and stress databases.
- Actively monitor the performance of database code in production environment and develop or co-ordinate the development of performance fixing.
- Identify the need for code refactoring and channel such requirements to product development team via PDR.
- Responsible for maintaining the master database for the developer, QA and local stress environment.
- Liaise with production database team to ensure archival and purging of data as per the product requirements.
- Liaise with production engineering group for adhoc code deployment and ensuring system stability during any non-downtime deployment.
- Act as mentor for the database developer community.
- Perform POC for the new features and enhancements.
Essential
- Expert in SQL/PLSQL development.
- Knowledge of Oracle performance tuning aspect.
- Detailed function knowledge of database application.
- Excellent in troubleshooting the database issues.
- Experience in database administration.
- Experience in shell scripting
- Working knowledge of java and web technologies.
