Project Summary -
The West Content Technology group provides systems development and support for all of the content processing needs of West. All of the content used by West in its print and electronic products is sourced from systems developed by this group. The group oversees and executes on a wide range of project types, ranging from cost saving infrastructure to revenue driving product development initiatives.
We are looking for a highly motivated and detailed oriented individual to serve as a Senior Software Engineer on the Linking / Entity Management (LEM) team within Content Technology. The LEM team is responsible for a set of critical systems and services that find and validate a wide variety of references contained in the content that gets published. These identified references are used to support hypertext linking, citing references and several other important features in many West applications.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organization, communication, and problem solving skills. They must also possess effective oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. A history of resolving time sensitive issues in a fast paced production environment while maintaining strong customer relationships are key selection criteria.

Required Skills -
- Development in Java/J2EE technologies, Web Services, Oracle, and XML based technologies to maintain and enhance Data Services such as Alerts, Delivery, Branding, Inbox etc.
- Knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) techniques
- Knowledge of 'Regular expressions'
- Knowledge to create unit level tests using JUnit
Candidates should possess:
- 3+ years of total IT experience.
- 2+ years of Java/J2EE based development using Design Patterns
- 1+ years working with large relational database such as Oracle / SQL Server
- Good knowledge of XML and related technologies
- Possess excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively when dealing with internal and external customers
- A track record of participating in developing enterprise java applications.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines in uncertain environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written proficiency
- Java Certification a plus
- Knowledge of Websphere, Tomcat, JSF, Ant, Unix scripting, struts, tiles, MQ Series
- Some exposure to Microsoft technologies such as C#, VB and .net is a plus
